Born in Huntington, Mr. Eisenhauer entered the Army at age 24, serving during World War II, primarily with the 255th Field Artillery Battalion, participating in the Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. For his service he earned the American Theater Ribbon, theEuropean-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. Mr. Eisenhauer's first marriage was to Catherine L. Kelly, who died in 1964. His second marriage on May of 1967was to Mary Louise Poe, who died in July of 1980. He had 2 children and 2 stepchildren. His nephew, David Flora, accepts the certificates from the VFW Post 2689 incoming commander, Rodney Funk.

OBITUARY: From the Huntington Herald Press Online, October 16, 2001Robert Henry Eisenhauer, 83, formerly of Dimond Street, died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2001) at The Heritage of Huntington. Mr. Eisenhauer was a realtor and broker and had owned Eisenhauer Realty. He was Huntington Township Assessor from 1975-78 and County Assessor from 1979-94. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the Army during World War II and was a Bronze Star recipient. He was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Huntington to George and Alice Bryant Eisenhauer. His first marriage was to Catherine L. Kelly, who died in 1964. His second marriage was to Mary Louise Poe in May of 1967. She died in July of 1980. Survivors include two stepsons, Greg Poe and Doug Poe, both of Huntington; and two sisters, Berniece Flora, Huntington, and Lucy Frantz, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a son, John R. Eisenhauer; a daughter, Kathleen M. Eisenhauer; a sister, Mae Zahm; and four brothers, Leroy Eisenhauer, Lawrence Eisenhauer, Joseph Eisenhauer and Albert Eisenhauer. Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hart Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., with Father Gary Sigler and Father Robert Fosselman officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Huntington County Hospice or College Park Preschool, in care of Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750
