LOGAN: Charles Eugene Roop Sr., age 76 of Logan, Ohio, (Hocking County) passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Pickering House Lancaster, Ohio after an extended illness.
Born February 2, 1935 in Rockbridge, Ohio, he was the son of the late Oliver Wright and Elizabeth Marie (Helber) Roop.
Chuck had formally worked for North American in Columbus, Ohio and Kilbarger Construction Company in Logan, Ohio and was the Owner and Operator of Roop Construction Company in Logan, Ohio. He especially enjoyed farming and working in his vegetable garden;
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Jean "Betty" (Krannitz) Roop; one son, Chuck (Patricia Carpenter) Roop Jr. of Logan, Ohio; six daughters, Deb (Ed) Mohler, Cindy (Greg) Schultz, Kathy (Rob) Danison, Mindy Ingram and Lisa Sharb all of Logan, Ohio and Christy (Steve) Shaw of Columbus, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Daniel Mohler, Amy Hopkins, Ty Schultz, Dustin Ingram, Brandi Roop, Jena Sharb, Jessica Danison, Keely Ingram, Colin Roop and Jordan Sharb; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Marlene) Roop of Logan, Ohio; four sisters, Evelyn (Dan) Turly of Thurston, Ohio, Kay Roop of Logan, Ohio, Shirley Henderly of Lancaster, Ohio and Jean Martin of Arizona.
Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Roop; and two grandsons, Joe Roop and Kevin Mohler.
Funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Saint John Catholic Church, Logan, Ohio.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, Ohio. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio
