LaFern Catherine Rosenberg
(June 18, 1919 - February 14, 2012)
LaFern Rosenberg passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Mott at the age of 92 years.
LaFern Catherine Schumacher was born June 18, 1919 in Mott, ND to Henry and Florence (DeKelver) Schumacher; the youngest of four daughters. LaFern was raised on a farm North of Mott, graduating from Mott Lincoln High School in 1938.
LaFern was united in marriage to Phillip G. Dauenhauer on June 18, 1938 at St. Vincent?s Catholic Church. They farmed and raised their 4 children on their farm north of Mott. Phillip was employed by the ASCS office. LaFern was an Avon representative and enjoyed working at the Playhouse Theater. Phillip passed away on October 28, 1977.
LaFern married Rudolph Rosenberg on November 22, 1979 in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Texas and Minot, ND. Rudy past away in May of 2001.
LaFern continued living in Minot until she moved to Dakota Hills in Elgin, ND where she lived for eight years. Since 2009 she has been a resident of Mott Good Samaritan Society.
LaFern was a member of Saint Vincent?s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Royal Neighbors, the American Legion Auxiliary and a local Mott Bridge Club.
LaFern enjoyed traveling; in later years she had the opportunity to experience cruises and Europe. She was known to always map out her route in detail before heading anywhere, always staying along the way with family and friends. She was a great conversationalist and knew no strangers; she was the life of the party. LaFern was loving and generous with her time, very spunky, strong headed and opinionated. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving family members include Craig (Donna) Dauenhauer, Safford, AZ; Penny (Elmer) Bertsch, Hastings MN; and Carter Dauenhauer, Longville, LA; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren.
LaFern was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Kim David Dauenhauer, great grandson, Grayson Skinner and sisters, Ella Warren, Lauratta Krebs and Grace Stinemetz.
A memorial service will be held in July with inurnment at Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott, ND.
