John B. Caire, M. D. ? 7/28/2002
John B. Caire, M. D., 79, of Lake Charles died at 10:29 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital.
Dr. Caire was a native of New Orleans, where he graduated from Jesuit High School, Tulane University and Tulane University School of Medicine in 1946. He moved to Lake Charles in 1954 and practiced obstetrics and gynecology here until 1984. Since his retirement in 1999, he had limited his practice to office gynecology and weight-loss counseling. He became a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1958 and received his board certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1960. He was a clinical instructor at Tulane and LSU schools of medicine, and he was a consultant to the Fort Polk hospital in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He served in the Navy during World War II and Korean War. He was a member of the board of the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital medical staff and served as president in 1978. Dr. Caire was a member of the Conrad G. Collins Gynecological Society, the American Medical Association as well as the Louisiana and Calcasieu Parish medical societies. Dr. Caire was a diplomat and was board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Huber Caire of Lake Charles; two sons, John Caire of Lake Charles and Dr. Stanley Caire of Flagstaff, Ariz.; three daughters, Dr. Jill Caire of San Rafael, Calif., Linda McCrosky of Lake Charles and Donna Caire of Abita Springs; two stepdaughters, Julie Heard Quarles of Atlanta and Margie Heard of Lake Charles; one brother, Albert Caire of New Orleans; three sisters, Mrs. Edward (Shirley) Wegmann and Mrs. George (Elaine) Geissert, both of New Orleans, and Mrs. Arnold (Audrey) Spring of Park City, Utah; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 28, in Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Visitation is from 1 p.m.
