- Sr. Mary Prince
Sister Mary Roberta Prince, OSM, 92, died on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Addolorata Villa in Wheeling, Ill.
She was born Margaret Dorothy, on Sept. 17, 1917, in Cooks Valley, Wis. She was the fifth of seven children born to Joseph and Maude Bergeron Prince.
Margaret entered the Servants of Mary Convent on Feb. 12, 1935, and professed her first vows in Aug. 1936, and perpetual vows in 1939.
She earned a bachelors degree from De Paul University and a masters degree from Loyola University, both in Chicago.
She spent much of her religious life as a teacher and administrator at the elementary and secondary school level. Sr. Roberta taught in schools in New Jersey, West Virginia, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin and California. She served nine years on the governing board of the Servants of Mary and nine more years as administrator at Addolorata Villa, a nursing home in Wheeling, Ill., sponsored by the Servants of Mary.
In her retirement years, Sr. Mary continued her service as a health care volunteer at the Villa.
Sr. Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews; and her Servite Sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jospeh and Maude; and her siblings Bernice Peterson, Annabelle Sykora, and James, Frank, Robert and David Prince.
Visitation and sharing of memories was held at the Servants of Mary Convent Chapel on Wednesday, April 7, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and burial in the convent cemetery. The Celebrant will be Father Nick Hussian of Wheeling.
The Nash-Jackan Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
