Jo Robinson, 94 year old Buffalo resident, passed away late Tuesday evening at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo.
Elogene "Jo" Robinson was born on February 1, 1921 in Elk View, West Virginia to Commodore and Bertha Pierson. Her family moved to Colorado in the 1930's, following an uncle who arrived in the early years of that century. A graduate of Denver University, she became a music teacher in the public schools. Jo was married to Edgar Conly in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1941. Her second marriage was to Clair Robinson in 1955 and she soon returned with him to his family's ranchland in Johnson County, Wyoming. After retiring from her teaching work in Buffalo, she joined her husband in his real estate business as a broker. Before long, she was recognized as the Wyoming State Realtor of the Year. She loved music and enjoyed fishing. She and Clair were able to fish all over the west, including 20 some trips to Alaska.
Musician, teacher, poet, realtor, and above all wife and mother Elogene Pierson Robinson has left her earthly body behind. "They are not dead who live in lives they leave behind. In those whom they have blessed they live a life again." Whoever it was that said that surely meant it for someone like Elogene (Jo) Robinson. She was a joy and an inspiration to all of us who loved her.
Her extended family is her dearest legacy, however she was widely known and loved by so many people in Buffalo and in Johnson County. Among these are those whom she taught in the grade school in Buffalo, Wyoming, and likewise those who received her caring assistance in buying real property and also those who knew her through her beautiful piano playing and enjoyment with the Buffalo Music Club.
Another enduring legacy is the Mountain Plains Heritage Park, which wouldn't exist if not for her ceaseless efforts in enlisting great work and funding from the many people who helped to create that memorial to the pioneers of Wyoming.
She is survived by her husband Clair Robinson of Buffalo; three sons, Craig Conly and his wife Judie Baldwin of Oakland, California, Paul Conly and his wife Maura Adler of Denver, Colorado and Marc Conly and his wife Nancy also of Denver; one step-son Wayne Robinson and his wife Suzy of Denver; one brother William Pierson and one sister Lois Burnett both of Denver; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Richard Pierson, one sister Elizabeth Huff and one step-grandchild Chris Robinson.
