JONES - Kermit L., 81, Windber, went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2007, at Windber Regional Hospice. Born May 15, 1925, in Hooversville, son of the late Joseph F. and Amanda J. (Berkey) Jones. Also preceded in death by wife, former Druscilla Trent; son, Dennis; daughter, Karen; brothers, Minter, Berkey and Mervin; and sisters, Ruby Peterson and Hope Hoover. Survived by these children, Joy, wife of Lee Miller, and Ruby, wife of Jay Mader, both of Windber, and Cindi, wife of Wendell "John" Ritenour, Somerset. Also survived by grandchildren, Alana Moore; Charlie Moore II, and his wife, Amanda; Abby Mader; and Wendy and Keith Ritenour; and step-grandchildren, Jason, Leroy and Melissa; also five great-grandchildren; and special family friend and exchange student, Birgit Husecken. Survived by second wife, former Verna (Synder) Yost, and her children, Raymond Yost, and wife, Pienna, North Dakota; Robert Yost, and wife, Sharon, Mechanicsburg; Gwen Miller, Johnstown; William Yost, and wife, Bea; Cathy Yost; Eric Yost, and wife, Dawn; and Richard Yost, all of Windber; and 16 stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren. Brother of Gertrude Weaver, Joseph J. Jones and Richard Jones, all of Windber, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kerm was a retired Church of the Brethren ordained minister who served several churches in western Pennsylvania. Before entering the ministry, he was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He was always a hard worker who enjoyed working outside and on vehicles. Much of his free time was spent reading his Bible or visiting with others. Kerm liked any color as long as it was red. In his honor, those attending his service are invited to wear something bearing the color red. The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Berkey Church of the Brethren, Windber, the Rev. Garnet Myers officiating. Interment, Berkey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Windber Regional Hospice in Kermit's memory.
