- [S927] Obituary.
age 92, of Louisville, passed away on July 4 surrounded by his family who loved him so much. Paul was born Aug. 11, 1918 in Louisville, the son of Pearl and Paul Ferguson, Sr. His twin sister, Margie (Sheldon) Moore and his brother, Richard (Velma) predeceased him. He graduated from Louisville High School in 1937 and from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. in 1943. He proudly served his country in the European Theater during World War II from 1943-1946, and in Korea from 1950-1952. He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves. His civilian career was with the Ohio State Employment Service where he retired as Regional Supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth; his two daughters, Lyndia (David) Hartman of Charleston, S.C. and Patricia Ferguson of Louisville; and his granddaughter, Erika (Steve) Sautman of West Stockbridge, Mass. As a lifelong resident of Louisville he, like his father, attended all the Leopard home football games. Last year, as the oldest surviving member of the 1937 football team, he was honored at the opening of the new Leopard Stadium. He loved books, art, antiques, vacations with his family and extended summer and holiday stays at their homes. His family will remember him as having loved them unconditionally.
Private military burial was held on July 8.
