Charles "Carl" D. Schuetz was born in Okawville on September 15, 1887. He was a craftsman and worked as the cabinet maker of Venedy. On May 19, 1909, Charles Schuetz was united in marriage to Sophia Tielemann, the daughter of Christian Tielemann and Karoline Schnenler. Sophia came from Darmstadt and was born in 1890. Shortly after this, they moved into a suburb of St. Louis. Charles and Sophia did not have any children. He became ill with tuberculosis and lived with his mother, Engel, for the last portion of his life. Charles died at the age of thirty in Venedy on the night of July 11, 1918. He was buried on July 14th at St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery.
