Aberdeen - Gene George Ketterling, 51, of Aberdeen, died Aug. 1, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2005, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 South Main St., Aberdeen with Rev. Jeff Whillock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Thursday, and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
Gene George Ketterling was born May 5, 1954, at Quinn, S.D. to George and Irene (Schaffer) Ketterling. He attended school at Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1972. He was a cook at The Ranch Cafe and Holiday Inn while attending high school. Gene worked for Kyburz Construction for a short period of time and then became employed for Dahme Construction, where he was currently working at the time of his death. He enjoyed cooking and collecting eagles. He also has the complete collection of the M.A.S.H. series.
Survivors include his father, George Ketterling of Aberdeen; one son, Gregory Ketterling of Clearfield, Utah; two daughters, Nicole (Michael) Young of Rapid City, S.D. and Shelley (John) Kolb of Aberdeen; four sisters, Darlene Sanders of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Linda (Laddie) Vetsch, Geraldine Ketterling and Julie (Jim) Kaul, all of Aberdeen, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Ketterling on Jan. 11, 2002.
Casket bearers will be Howard Dahme, David Docktor, Delbert Henke, Pam Ketterling, Spencer Kaul, Chris Graves, and Jesse Graves. Usher will be Jim Kaul. Organist will be Arliss Alberts. Soloist will be Donna Bertsch.
