Russel Johnson Russel Johnson, 74, Huntington, died at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 28, 2004) at Marion General Hospital.Mr. Johnson farmed in Huntington County. He also drove a truck for Citgo for many years and was a bus driver for the Huntington County Community Schools. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was also a past assistant chief for the Bippus Fire Department and past president of the Bippus Lions Club.He was born March 25, 1930, in Bippus, to J. Edward and Stella Meyer Johnson. He married Helen Hinen May 14, 1949; his wife survives.Additional survivors include three sons, Keith Johnson, Fort Wayne, and Rex Johnson and Terry Johnson, both of Huntington; five daughters, Mrs. Ron (Cheryl) Hochstetler and Mary Kay Johnson, both of Huntington, Mrs. Tom (Jeanine) Yarde, Garrett, Mrs. Bob (Joyce) Johnson-Bozarth, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. John (Amy) Burton, Camby; a brother, Ralph Johnson, Huntington; and 18 grandchildren, 11 stepgrandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.A son, Billy Johnson, died in infancy. Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Ron Rieder officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.Preferred memorials are contributions to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Masses in Mr. Johnson's memory.
