Richard Gerald Fyock, 87, Penn Run, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at his home.Mr. Fyock served his country during WWII in the 101 Airborne Army as a medic, was presented with multiple medals, and was stationed in Salsburg Plains where he met his future wife.During his lifetime, Mr. Fyock became one of the founding fathers and lifetime member of the Cherry Hill Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he served many years as the fire chief. He also served on the Penns Manor school board and had been employed by FMC while also serving as a Forrest Fire Warden and EMT. Dick was a member of the Penns Manor Church of the Nazarene, former member of the Evergreen Search & Rescue Team 600 and also a charter member of the Indiana County Fire Police. 'Pappy' enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.Surviving is his wife Betty; children, Carol Rainey and husband Richard 'Dick' Rainey, Patricia 'Pat' Lydic, all of Penn Run, Mrs. Earl (Linda) Roof, Creekside, Mark Fyock, and Mrs. Edward 'Ed' (Karen) Markel, all of Penn Run; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. George (Peg) Rumsey, Penn Run, Mrs. William ( Jean) Floyd, Homer City, and Mrs. Edward (Audrey) Maudie, Homer City.Mr. Fyock was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Richard P. and Scott B., and a daughter-in-law, Debra L. Fyock.
