  [S927] Obituary. Vanetta T. Theis, 87, formerly of New Riegel, passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 27, 2010, at Independence House, Fostoria. She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Seneca County, to Henry J. and Eleanora (Wagner) Schalk. She married Alvin Theis Feb. 8, 1947, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel. Survivors include four sons, Robert E. (Nancy) Theis and Joseph A. (Rebecca) Theis, both of Fostoria, Steven F. (Patricia) Theis of Tiffin and David G. (Penny) Theis of New Riegel; a brother, Francis P. (Angie) Schalk of New Riegel; sister-in-law, Ann Schalk of New Riegel; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husband, Alvin, on May 8, 1996, are two daughters, Virginia M. Theis and Marlene A. Hartman; a sister and brother-in-law, Erma and Floyd Kinn; and a brother, Robert H. Schalk. Vanetta was a 1941 graduate of New Riegel High School and a member of All Saints Parish, the Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Knights of Ohio. Her Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at All Saints Parish, New Riegel, with the Rev. Randy Giesige officiating. A rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, New Riegel. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home and Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, (419) 447-2424.
