Raymond Wetsch, Bismarck, ND, died the day following his 80th birthday at St. Gabriel's Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 12, at Charity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, ND with Pastor Scott Bauman officiating.
Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan
.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, where a prayer service will begin at 5:30 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Raymond was born on August 8, 1935, in St. Anthony, ND, to Anton and Magdalina (Hatzenbuhler) Wetsch. He was the 3rd youngest of 11 children. He met the love of his life, Carol at the Super Valu picnic where they were both employed, in 1958. Raymond continued at Super Valu for his entire career, retiring after 30 years. They were married December 12, 1959 and have spent the last 55 years loving and supporting each other.
Ray will be remembered by many for his sweet smile, teasing and sparkle in his eye that was ever so present throughout his life.
The family is very appreciative of the kind, compassionate care Ray received at St. Gabriel's Care Center.
Ray will be deeply missed by his wife, Carol, Bismarck; his children, Lori (Dave) Laschkewitsch, Rod (Tanya) Wetsch and Lisa (Mark) Larson all of Bismarck, Vickie (Dale) Rage, Moorhead, MN, and Liddy (John) Achter, Menomonie, WI; 12 grandchildren, who were his greatest joys in life, April (boyfriend Austin) Laschkewitsch and Kelsey (Travis) Dahl, Austin, Lucas and Dylan Wetsch, Chad (Laura) Fleckenstein, Cody (Mindy) Fleckenstein and Stephanie (Jaden) Schafer, Benjamin (Sammy) Rage and William Rage, and Andrew and Anna Achter; five great-grandchildren; brothers, John, Glen Ullin, ND, Val (Darlene) Bismarck, Edward (Rochelle) Grand Forks; sisters, Leona George, Benedict, Angie (Frank) Boehm, Mandan, ND, and Loretta (David) Erhardt, Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Leona Wetsch, Des Moines, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tony (Betty) Wetsch, George (Margaret) Wetsch, Mike (Rose) Wetsch and Jack Wetsch.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Charity Lutheran Church or St. Gabriel's Care Center.
