Aberdeen: Funeral service for Norma Jean Neuharth, 85, of Aberdeen and formerly of Eureka will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at First Reformed Church in Aberdeen. The Rev. David Dawn will officiate.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Eureka City Cemetery with Rev. Richard Stetler officiating.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Norma died Monday, July 23, 2012, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.
Norma Jean, daughter of Johnnie and Lydia (Weller) Eiseman was born June 17, 1927, on the family homestead 4 1/2 miles south of Eureka. She attended country school and worked on the family farm, later working for others. She worked as a waitress for more than 35 years in Eureka mostly at the Luncheonette.
She was united in marriage to Howard Neuharth on Oct. 30, 1964 in Eureka Reformed Church. In June 2007, they moved to Aberdeen. Howard died Feb. 26, 2011.
Norma enjoyed being with her grandchildren and made sure they always had cookies.
Norma was a member of First Reformed Church in Aberdeen and a former member of Eureka Reformed Church and Ladies Aide.
Norma is survived by two daughters: Nancy (Ron) Hemmingson of Eureka and Karen Waltman of Aberdeen; one brother, Rayborn Eiseman of California; four sisters: Erna (Jack) Phillips of Kansas City, Mo., Deloris (George) Strepman of Denver, Colo., Shirley (Bruce) Drury of Grand Junction, Colo. and Brenda (Tony) Marquart of West Fargo, N.D.; and six grandchildren: Justin Hemmingson and Eric, Lindsey, Faith, Jacob and Grayson Waltman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
Casketbearers will be: Don Gross, Delmar Metzger, Mike Neuharth and Greg Waltman.
The organist will be Becky Mehlhoff and the ushers are Ralph Kusler and Milo Opp.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
