YAKIMA - Florence M. Haag Dauenhauer, 85, of Yakima, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was born on September 21, 1926 on the family farm in Dunn County, North Dakota to Leonard and Annie (Martian) Haag. She graduated from Model High School and attended Dickinson Teacher's College. Florence taught school in Dunn County in a rural one-room schoolhouse before moving to Yakima in 1946, where she worked as a bookkeeper for SeaFirst National Bank, and the Olympia Beer Distributor. She retired from Amoco foam products for health reasons.
She married Paul Dauenhauer on May 8, 1948 at St. Joseph Church. Florence had been a member of St. Paul's Cathedral for over fifty-five years. She believed in welcoming all to her home and always made sure everyone was fed. She is lovingly survived by her daughter Sharon (John) Billdt of Arlington, WA, sisters: Jane (Tony) Schneider of Zillah, Irene (Brad) Ravellette of Oaktown, IN, Cecilia (Mick) Manns of Fairbanks, AK, and Carol (Eldon) Miller of Williston, ND. Florence wrapped her arms lovingly around her many grandchildren; Amy, Jessica, Angela, Travis, Jesse, Jerry, Rosella, Levi and Stormy; great grandchildren: Jason, Jacob, Alyssa, Brooke, Dylan, Jerry, James, Samantha, Juliana, Molly, Lily, Jordan, Kenneth and Eric; and great great grandson Nathan. Florence had many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Frances, brother Mathias, a son Gerald, her former husband Paul, and great grandson Cody. Florence will be remembered for her sweet smile and a little wave for everyone she came in contact with. She will truly be missed by all of her loving family.
Recitation of the rosary will be Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Place in Moxee. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Cathedral in Yakima. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Cathedral.
