Bio: Dorothy Victoria Rosella Hauck passed away on Aug. 27, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born to Joseph and Mary (Karsky) Volesky on March 23, 1930, in Dunn County, N. D., into a family that eventually counted 12 children. In her early years, they moved to New Hradec, N.D., where Dorothy attended grade school. After several years at Model High School in Dickinson, Dorothy stayed home to help on the family farm while her older brothers served in WWII. While she was in high school, Dorothy met a farm boy that she rather liked. She married that farm boy, the love of her life, Herman Hauck, on Oct. 12, 1950. They were blessed with five children.Anyone entering Dorothy?s house would be greeted by smells of freshly baked desserts or caramel rolls. She was an excellent homemaker, and took great pride in her family and the home she made for them. She enjoyed cooking family favorites; canning; crossword puzzles; card games; sewing; crocheting endless dishcloths; religious education; and especially dancing. Herman and Dorothy travelled the US, Canada and Europe; cruised the Caribbean and Panama; and went in search of polka fests in their RV. They were prominent members of the Billings Polka Club and helped host several local polka festivals. Her love of family and music never went away.Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Herman Hauck; five children: Kevin (Marita), Lynn (Peder Sogard), JoLynn (Jim Yerger), Todd (Kaylene) and Melanie (Russ Tolman); 12 grandchildren: Chris (Michelle) Hauck, Andrea (Chris) Burrough, Mike (Laura) Hauck, Whitney and Britt Sogard, Jacob and Sarah Yerger, Joe (Daniela) Hauck, Carson and Duncan Hauck, Andrew and Alex McCreary. Dorothy had one great granddaughter, Madison. She is also survived by six brothers and three sisters.Vigil service will take place at 7 p.m., Sept. 1 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary located at 1001 Alderson Ave. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Sept. 2 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church 2055 Woody Drive with Rite of Committal immediately following at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park (3605 Grand Ave.) A reception will be held at the St. Thomas Church gymnasium.Memorials may be made to the St. Francis School Building Fund.Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
