Obituary
Jacob A. Hegel, 99, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015, at the Good Samaritan, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 5, 2015, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Bismarck with Rev. Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Cremation has taken place.
Jacob was born February 3, 1916, at Glen Ullin, North Dakota, to Peter and Gretrude (Dauenhauer) Hegel. He was raised and educated in Morton County. He served in the US Army as a medic in the South Pacific and also served in the CCC?s for three years. On November 29, 1951, he married Della I. Bellon in Almont, North Dakota. Jacob farmed for several years on his family farm, and moved around doing construction until the children started school. He then worked in the construction field working for several companies until his retirement. He enjoyed collecting key chains and pens. After retirement, he enjoyed taking long walks.
He is survived by his wife, Della, Bismarck; three daughters, Deborah (Greg) Hanson, and Peggy Carufel, all of Bismarck, and LaDonna (Dale) Kitzman, Lincoln; one son, Andrew (Pat) Hegel, San Diego, California; and two brothers, Tony and Adam; grandchildren, Kristie Kerzman, Kara (Brian) Heck, Eric (Sara) Carufel, Jordon Kitzman, Jesse Kitzman, Bryanna Kitzman, Kyla (Art) Escobedo, and Shawn (Rita) Hanley; great-grandchildren, Joshua Kerzman, Tyra Heck, Jax Heck, Kaeman Heck, Liam Carufel, Sabrina, Andrew, and Isabella Escobedo, and Jonah and Ellie Hanley; one unborn grandson; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Jacob was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Eva, Betty, Rose, and Francis; three brothers, Chris, Vincent, and Casper; grandson, Jason; great-grandson, Tre Heck; and son-in-law, Kurt Carufel.
