Obituary
Mary Ann Holzer, 94, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019 at CHI St Alexius, Bismarck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 5, 2019, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Bismarck with Fr. Jarad Wolf officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 3:00 ? 5:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary service at 5:00 PM Sunday, August 4, 2019 at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Mary Ann was born September 23, 1924, at rural Oliver County, North Dakota, to Phillip and Emilia (Dauenhauer) Thomas. She married John Holzer on June 22, 1948. She worked in the food industry for many years as a cook. Among her activities was sewing for her girls and being an avid volunteer in the local community which came from her devotion to her faith and the church.
She is survived by five daughters, Charlotte (Steven) Spiss, Tucson, Arizona, Kathleen (Merl) Paaverud, Bismarck, Nancy (Dennis) Smith, Richmond, Virginia, Carol (Wayne) Skarie, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Mary (Jerry) Fisher, Moses Lake, Washington; two sons, James (Teresa) Holzer, Bainbridge Island, Washington, and Richard Holzer, Bismarck; one sister, Gertrude Vennes, Minot; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, John, Mark, Clem and Phillip Jr.; and son, Gregory.
