FLANAGAN, James "Hugh," 87, of Glen Dale, W.Va., died Thursday, July 17, 2008, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale.
He was born December 15, 1920, in McMechen, W.Va., a son of the late Charles and Georgia Beatty Flanagan.
Hugh was a retired employee of Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel; a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of Glen Dale United Methodist Church.
He attended Fairmont State College and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty June Burkhart Flanagan, in 2003; two brothers, Glenn and Bill Flanagan; and two sisters, Ruth Kiedaisch and Edna Evans.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Dr. Thomas) Piehowicz of Marietta, Ohio, and Sue (Mike) Brant of New Freeport, Pa.; four grandchildren, Stephanie J. Piehowicz of New Albany, Ohio, Lisa (Roy) Bennington of Holbrook, Pa., Matt Brant and Megan Brant, both of New Freeport; two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Kaden Bennington.
He is also survived by his loving companion of many years, Ernestine Rexroad and her wonderful family; and much-loved nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, with the Rev. John Lepp officiating.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
