McDougal nee Vanest Grisell Funeral Home, Clarington, Ohio, dated, June 29, 2009 McDougal, Velma A., age 88 of Market St., Clarington, OH died Monday, June 29, 2009 in Woodsfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 7, 1921 in Beallsville, OH the daughter of the late David and Ella Palmer Vanest. She was a retired employee of the Switzerland of Ohio School District; and a member of Clarington Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard McDougal; a son, David McDougal; two brothers, Earl and Onward Vanest; a sister, Marie Brown; and a grandson, Nathan Norman. Survivors include a son, Dean (Patricia) McDougal of Hannibal, OH; a daughter, Ruth (Samuel) Allen of Woodsfield; four step-daughters, Mildred (George) Schnegg of Clarington, Doris (Jim) Miller of Oregon, Esther (Jim) Riley of California, and Stella (Dale) Forni of Beallsville; two brothers, Clark (Viola) Vanest of Dublin, OH, and Robert (Sally) Shinn of Nelsonville, OH; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Dr., Clarington where funeral services will be held Friday at 1pm. Interment in Clarington Cemetery, Clarington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 183, Hannibal, OH., 43931.
