He was born in Woodsfield May 26, 1946 a son of the late Ellis & Virginia Miller Smithberger. He was retired from Ormet Corp. Hannibal, Ohio in the maintenance dept. and was employed in the maintenance dept. at the Cabala?s Distribution Center. Delbert was also an U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church. Preceded in death by 1 sister: Andrea Smithberger. He is survived by his wife: Nancy Fetty Smithberger of Woodsfield, 3 sons: David (Jana) Smithberger of Massillon, Ohio, Daniel (Kayla) Smithberger of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Douglas Smithberger of Woodsfield, 1 brother: Donald (Sherry) Smithberger of Shadyside, Ohio, 2 sisters: Mary (David) Tubaugh of Columbus, Ohio, Susan (Jerry) Cunion of Woodsfield, father and mother-in-law: Luther and Ellen Fetty of Sardis, Ohio, 1 granddaughter: Gracey Smithberger.
