Services for George J. Henchen, 77, of Henderson Harbor, who died Saturday at his home after a long illness, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Holy Apostle Church, Rochester. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Rochester.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Main Street, Belleville, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 604 Maple St., Rochester.
He was a native of Rochester. He was educated in Holy Family School in Rochester. He operated the Henchen Bowling Hall in Rochester for 22 years until 1962. He moved to Henderson Harbor to operated the Henchen Marina and Fishing Camp. Mr. Henchen was a licensed fishing guide for more than 50 years.
He was inducted as a member of the Rochester Bowling Hall of Fame in 1974.
He was the widower of the former Evelyn Robinson, who died in 1973.
Surviving are two sons, Robert G. of Henderson Harbor and David M. of Rochester; two daughters, Carol Henkey of Hilton and Diane Gamble of Henderson Harbor; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
