Margaret `Sis' Overdier
Margaret "Sis" Overdier, 89, of Rock Island, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, where she was a member. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society.
Margaret was born July 6, 1916, in Rock Island, a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Barlang Meyer. She married Russell McCandless on Nov. 5, 1951, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1961. She married Harley Overdier on Sept. 4, 1965, in Rock Island.
She worked at Modern Woodmen of America, Rock Island, for 25 years, retiring in 1966.
Surviving are her husband, Harley Overdier, Rock Island; stepson, Gary E. Overdier, Clovis, N.M.; three stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Meyer, Rock Island; and a brother, Kenneth Meyer, and his wife, Carmel, Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; sister, Bernice Meyer; brother, Edmond Meyer; and sister-in-law, Selma Meyer.
