Leander R. Bischoff, age 92, of Woodsfield, Ohio died Wednesday May 11, 2011 at the Monroe County Care Center. He was born in Monroe County, Ohio April 28, 1919 a son of the late Frederick & Magdalena Burkhart Bischoff.
He was a farmer all his life, a World War II veteran, a member of the Moffett-Fletcher Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion Post, former trustee of the Green Township, member of Center Grange, and former trustee of the Fletcher Chapel Cemetery Board, and former grounds keeper of the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
Surviving are a sister-in-law; Dolores A. Bischoff of Sterling, Ohio several nieces and nephews and special niece, Thelma Ann Zimmerman who cared for him several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Carroll, Frank, and John W. Bischoff, and two sisters; Rozella Bischoff Dixon, and Barbara Bischoff Hartong.
Friends received from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio where Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday May 16, 2011 with Minister Sam Bartrug officiating. Interment in the Fletcher Chapel Cemetery near Woodsfield, Ohio. Military services conducted by the Belmont Veterans Council.
