Madonna Ohm
MATTOON - Madonna L. Ohm, 79, of Mattoon, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Mattoon. Father Edward Ohm will be the celebrant and Father Dennis Kollross will be concelebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening, December 26, at the Schilling Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Madonna was born September 2, 1929, in Mattoon, a daughter of Harry J. and Irma (Highland) Ferree. She married Ralph E. Ohm on November 23, 1950. He passed away January 14, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Ohm McCune, two brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her four children, Susan Smith and husband Mack of Mattoon, Father Edward Ohm of Clarksville, Tennessee, Julie Wilkerson and husband Tim of Sullivan, and Joseph Ohm and wife Jody of LaGrange, Illinois; brother, Morris "Moe" Ferree of Mattoon; sister, Mary Jane Vogt of Mattoon; three granddaughters, Maggie, Olivia and Madison; and one grandson, Joshua. Mrs. Ohm was retired from the U.S. Bureau of Census. Madonna was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she worshipped daily. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Ladies Guild of the Immaculate Conception Church, and volunteered her time with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Madonna spent many enjoyable hours walking, reading, playing Bridge, spending summer afternoons at Lytle Pool and playing with her grandchildren. Memorial gifts in her honor are suggested to Habitat For Humanity, St. Vincent De Paul Society, Catholic Charities, , or donor's choice.
