Elizabeth "Elsie" Maria Cassetti, 89, of 238 W. Market St., New Wilmington, passed away at her residence at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 26, 1927, she was the daughter of Herman and Maria Hoffman Engel.
Elizabeth was a 1945 graduate of Bay Ridge High School and a 1946 graduate of Drake Business School, both in New York.
Mrs. Cassetti was a legal secretary at the law firm of Havens, Wandless, Stitt and Tighe for Herb Tighe in New York and then went on to be an executive secretary at Equitable Life Insurance Co.
She married William Paul Cassetti on May 26, 1951. He died Sept. 25, 2016.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Mrs. Cassetti is survived by two daughters, Christine, wife of Michael Brown, of Grove City and Elizabeth "Beth," wife of Jeffrey Whitman, of Novato, Calif.; one son, Paul Cassetti of Garnerville, N.Y.; one brother, Herman Engel of Kettering, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Kate and Ian Brown, Ashley, John and Hayley Whitman, Colleen and Ryan Cassetti.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Megan Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or the charity of the donor's choice.
