YORK Violet R. (Carnes) Fyock, 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles J. Fyock, who passed away on May 30, 1996. The couple had been married for 55 years. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. on Friday at Mt. Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mt. Rose Ave., York, with Pastor Richard B. Starr officiating. A funeral cortege will form at the entrance of the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Fyock was born on May 26, 1918, in Craley, the daughter of the late Logan and Rosa M. (Burg) Carnes. Violet worked at York Safe & Lock Co. during WWII then later became a housewife. Mrs. Fyock was a 1935 William Penn graduate. Violet was a great cook and baker but most importantly she was a great friend and mentor to many. Mrs. Fyock is survived by a son, Robert Lee Fyock of York. She was preceded in death by a brother, Morgan Carnes.
