Arvadella Goebel was born October 6, 1937 to Philip and Delores (Schlect) Goebel on the family farm near Lehr, ND. She grew up and learned the value of hard work on the farm.
Arvadella married Herman Hruby on February 23, 1957 in Bismarck, ND. They moved to Aberdeen in 1970. In the late 1970’s, Arvadella began working for The Flame restaurant. For nearly thirty years her work ethic was evident in her dedication to The Flame and rarely missing a day of work.
Arvadella was united in marriage to Richard D. Stoebner on April 14, 1973 in Aberdeen. They continued to make Aberdeen their home. Richard passed away on February 2, 2011.
Arvadella was a strong and serious German, but had a big heart. She would speak her mind and would always let you know what she thought. She enjoyed gardening, yard work and keeping up her house. Arvadella liked canning, baking and was known for her wonderful German cooking. She always held onto a love for the farm, even keeping chickens in her yard in Aberdeen. Her dogs brought her much joy and comfort, especially when her health began to fail. Playing cards, particularly Whist, was a favorite pastime of hers. Arvadella loved listening to Polka’s. She would tune into the Jamestown station every Saturday and Sunday to hear them and took many trips to Long Lake to listen to a Polka band.
Grateful for having shared Arvadella’s life are her children: Melinda (Larry) Hopfinger, Aberdeen, Karen Hruby, Aberdeen, Donna (Lyle) Hopfinger, Mina, SD, Brian Hruby, Aberdeen, Dr. Scott Allen Hruby, OD, Austin, TX, Dr. Bradley Lynn (Catrina) Hruby, DDS, Brandon, SD and Troy Stoebner, Aberdeen; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and eight siblings: Darvin (Betty) Goebel, Wishek, ND, Clayton (Elenore) Goebel, Idaho, Shirley (Lawrence) Raile, Rapid City, SD, Ruby Stevahn, Jamestown, ND, Lila Kaseman, Bismarck, ND, Sharon Woehl, Fargo, ND, Gary (Debbie) Goebel, Wishek, ND and Linda Jung, Fargo, ND.
