Rosalind Gogel
Rosalind Margaret (Meyer) Gogel, 86, of Evansville, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Heritage Center in Evansville. Rosalind was born on Feb. 11, 1918, in Dale, Ind., to Louis and Bertha (Brenner) Meyer, both of whom preceded her in death. She and her husband, William, were married at St. Benedict Cathedral on August 12, 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978, by her sisters, Helen and Edna Meyer, and by her brother, Robert Meyer.
Rosalind had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in the city since 1950. She was also a member of St. Ann's Altar Society, Knights of St. John St. Rita's Auxiliary No. 228 and St. Joseph Senior Citizens. She worked at Servel Aviation during World War II. Amongst the many things that she enjoyed in life were her children and grandchildren, the Atlanta Braves, NASCAR and embroidery. For many years she worked the Sunday dinners at St. Joseph Church.
Rosalind is survived by her children and their spouses, Sharon S. and Ernie Hicks of Evansville, Audrey J. and Ted Lipking of Boonville, Ind., George P. and Kathy Gogel of Hatfield, Ind., and Donald E. Gogel of Evansville; by her sisters, Adella Meyer of Evansville and Kathryn Meyer of Dale; by her brother, Sylvan Meyer of Dale; by eight grandchildren, Maegan and Linzey Hicks, Chloe, Kelsey and Keith Lipking, Angela Hill and Kristian and Keenan Smith; and by her great-grandchildren, Marshall Rogers, Nick Fulling, Devin Hill and Kassy Smith.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, Franklin & Heidelbach, continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in the city, the Revs. William Traylor and Eugene Schroeder officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, Franklin & Heidelbach, where Knights of St. John St. Rita's Auxiliary No. 228 will conduct a memorial service at 4 p.m., and sister Jenny Miller will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in the city.
