GEORGE C. NEUMAN
George D. Neuman, 64, of Danville, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at his home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1942, in St. Joseph, the son of Virgil and Arvilla (Menges) Neuman. He married Jackie Grant on June 21, 1969, in Danville. She survives. George is also survived by one daughter, Nicole Neuman of Danville; two brothers, Richard Neuman of Danville and Joe (Sharon) Neuman of Belgium, Ill.; one sister, Delores Sprague of Tilton, Ill.; four brothers-in-law, George Miller of Georgetown, Ill., John (Karen) Grant of Williamsport, Ind., Paul (Chris) Grant of Danville and Marty (Tami) Grant of Danville; five sisters-in-law, Marilyn Neuman of Cayuga, Ind., Cecel (Ron) Williams of Danville, Ind., Claudia "Poochie" Delp-Grant of Danville, Kerry (John) Blankenbeckler of Danville, Ill., and Billie (Jeff) Snoddy of Covington, Ind.; one aunt, Fern Menges of Danville; and two special cousins, Mike (Pat) Menges of Danville and Pat Earnwald of Danville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry and Robert Neuman; one sister, Virgene Miller; and a special uncle, George Menges, whom he was very close to.
George graduated from Bismarck-Henning High School. He was very active in organizing his class reunions. He worked for ESCO for 20 years before working for Quaker Oats Company until his retirement in March 2004. He spent a lot of his time in his garden growing vegetables to share with his family and friends. He loved fishing, farming, picking black berries, mushroom hunting and looking for deer on his four-wheeler. George never met a stranger and was friends with everyone. He spent his mornings at the Bismarck Coffee Shop playing cards and visiting with friends. He was an avid Illini fan.
A celebration of the life of George D. Neuman will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made in George's name to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Blood Bank.
