Obituary for James Felix "Jim" Archer
James Felix ?Jim? Archer, age 92, of Sharon, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born December 30, 1923, in Fulda (Stock Twp.), son of the late William Henry and Cecelia Elizabeth Crum Archer. He was a 1941 graduate of Elk Rural High School in Harriettsville, and he was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theater. He was employed as a foreman for Donald Morris Sawmill in Macksburg for 45 years, and he also operated a family farm for several years. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell. Mr. Archer loved working in his yard and keeping it pristine, he loved gardening, and he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine M. Boyd Archer, whom he married November 5, 1955, and who died June 14, 1996; three sisters, Lucy Dick, Clara Morrison, and Irene Hupp; three brothers, Howard, Bernard, and Paul Archer; and one daughter-in-law, Sherri Archer.
Surviving are his children, Denise G. ?Neen? (Brad R.) Teague of Thornville, Alicia L. ?Tish? (Randy) Warren of Dexter City, Larissa N. ?Riss? Archer (Kip Todd) of Byesville, Stanley M. (Janice) Archer of New Concord, Llewelyn M. ?Dueb? (Lynn) Archer, Matthew P. ?Mattie? (Tammie) Archer, and Sherman S. Archer, all of Caldwell; one brother, Andrew C. (Dorla) Archer of Caldwell; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including his special nephew, Danny, and cousin, Dub.
Friends may call Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell where a Christian scripture service will conclude visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Friday, January 15th at 10AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. A veteran?s graveside service will follow at Sharon Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
