He was born September 12, 1905, son of the late Phillip Kahrig and Louisa Pfalzgraf Kahrig. He was a school bus driver, electrician, timber cutter, farmer, and Malaga Township Trustee. He was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Ella Christman Kahrig; eight sons, Herman, of Barnesville, Lester, of Pataskala, Virgil, of Marshville, Rodney, of Woodsfield, Francis, of Canton, Kenneth, of Jerusalem, Lloyd, of New Pittsburgh, William of Lewisville; five daughters, Mrs. Edward (Martha) Uppole, of Lewisville, Mrs. Wilfred (Dortha) Matz, of Dalton, Mrs. Robert (Vera) Crock, of Massillon, Mrs. Tony (Leora) Cruise, of Oklahoma, Doris Kahrig, of Rittman; 31 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Homer, of Quaker City; three sisters, Minnie Walters, of Marietta, Marie Brooks, of Mentor and Sophia Reischman, of Barnesville.
