Poseyville, IN ? Robert J. Spindler, age 84, of Poseyville, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital Main Campus.
Mr. Spindler worked in construction for 40 years. He was as an independent contractor and owned and operated the Robert J. Spindler Construction Company. He was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church for over 60 years and was also a member of the Knights of St. John at St. Wendel, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the St. Wendel, Resurrection and Darmstadt Retirees Clubs.
Surviving Mr. Spindler are his lovely wife of 63 years, Irma (Will) Spindler; five daughters, Louise (Bob) Kiesler of Evansville, Susan (Richard) Hopkins of Renton, WA, Phyllis (Leland) Krush of New Salisbury, IN, Linda (Roland) Cowan and Sondra (Mark) Schoenbaum, both of Evansville; three sons, Stephen (Lita) Spindler of Princeton, Alan (Lori) Spindler of Downers Grove, IL and Thomas (Teresa) Spindler of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Anna (Andy) Mayer and Eva (Bill) Miller, both of Ft. Branch and a sister-in-law, Valeria Spindler of Princeton, IN. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Mike, Sara and Joey Kiesler, Tara Lee Krush, Chris Cowan, Elizabeth and Ann Marie Schoenbaum, Emily and Amanda Spindler and Caitlin and Brooke Spindler and a great grandson, William Kiesler.
Mr. Spindler was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. and Albertine (Feith) Spindler and four brothers, Henry, John, Paul Frank and Joseph P. Spindler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where a memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also visit from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Monday at St. Wendel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or to St. Wendel Catholic Church.
