ohn W. Nichols

John W. Nichols, 71, of 310 Granger Rd. in Wayland died Thursday (Mar. 1, 1990) in his home following a long illness.
Born May 20, 1918, in Westernport, Md., a son of William and Theresa Schneider Nichols, he was married to the former Mercedes Lorch who survives. A resident of Burke, W.Va., in his early life, he had lived in Rochester for 40 years prior to moving to Wayland six years ago.
Mr. Nichols served in the Army during World War Two in the African and European theaters. A member of the Disabled American veterans, he retired from Rochester Products Division of General Motors following 25 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Timothy Sawyer of Fairport and William Nichols of Reno, Nev.; two daughters, Sharon Sawyer of Norfolk, Va., and Jacqueline Nichols of Canandaigua; two grandchildren; a sister, Gladys DuPont of West Virginia; two brothers, Arthur of Macedon and Harry of West Virginia; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted in the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home of Wayland.
