Ruth E. Thomas, 86, of Evansville, passed away June 7, 2010, at her residence. She was born September 16, 1923, in Posey County. Ruth was a bookkeeper for MSD of Mount Vernon and retired in 1985. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Mount Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris "Straw" D. Thomas; and brothers, Paul and Charles Dausmann. Ruth is survived by her sister, Dorothy Chaffee of Evansville; nieces, Deb Dausmann-Kennedy of Houston, Texas, Jane Pippenger of Humansville, Mo.; Brenda Goff of Marion, Iowa; and Beverly Joslin of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; nephews, David Goff of Monticello, Iowa, and Bob Dausmann of Houston, Texas; good friends, Dennis and Jeanie Rogers of Evansville. The family would like to give a special thanks to Deaconess Hospice and her caregivers. Private burial will be held at Bellefontaine Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Posey County Humane Society.
