Note: From the Herald, Monday, June 20, 1960: "Mrs. Margaret Hochgesang, 83, the widow of Lawrence Hochgesang, died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since last May 19. She had been in failing health for two years. Before being admitted to the hospital she made her home with a son, Wilfred, and family in Little Kentucky. Mrs. Hochgesang was born at Celestine on Oct. 25, 1876, the daughter of August Betz and Mary Schlegel Betz. She was one of a family of 12 children. On Oct. 24, 1899, she was married to Lawrence Hochgesang, who preceded her in death onf Oct. 20, 1929. Surviving are four sons, Otto (Oats), Edwin (Butch), Hilbert and Wilfred, all of Jasper; three daughters, Mrs. George Marks and Mrs. Lorene Thieman of Jasper, and Mrs. Elmer (Butch) Basch of Dubois; two brothers, August Betz of Jasper and Leo Betz of Louisville; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Ann Society and of the Sodality of Our Lady. Services will be held in Holy Family Church at 9 a.m. Wednesday, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery."
