Note: From the Jasper Herald, Friday, Oct. 25, 1929: "Ex-Trustee of Bainbridge Dies - Lawrence Hochgesang, well known citizen of this city, died at his home at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 1929. He had been ailing for some time and was a victim of apoplexy. Mr. Hochgesang was born one half mile south of this city, Sept. 20, 1874, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hochgesang, both deceased. He had attained the age of 55 years, 1 month. He lived here all his life. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Hochgesang, nee Betz, four sons - Otto, Edwin A., Hilbert and Wilfred; three daughters - Leona, of Indianapolis, Lorena and Dora, at home; three brothers - Andrew of Jasper, John of Louisville and Dominic of Ireland; and two sisters - Mrs. Geo. Buechlein and Mrs. Wm. Giesler, both of this city. Mr. Hochgesang served Bainbridge Township as trustee for eight years and during his incumbency was a splendid official. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, and of St. Joseph's Society. Always a kind father and good neighbor he will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held Wedensday morning with a requiem mass in St. Joseph's church, followed by interment in Fairview cemetery. St. Joseph's Society and a large number of relatives attended the funeral."
