Sterling Ludwig Brown

Sterling L. Brown, 82, of Parkersburg died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Carl B. and Freda G. (Ludwig) Brown.
Mr. Brown had retired from DuPont Washington Works after 33 years of service as a C & P supervisor. He faithfully attended Stout Memorial United Methodist Church; was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, where he received the Bronze Star; a member of the Charleston American Legion; a talented wood carver, specializing in duck carvings; enjoyed salt water fishing; and was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fanell (Stephens) Brown of Parkersburg; one niece, Rebecca Podbesek and husband, Robert; and one great-nephew, Brian Podbesek, all of Charleston.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Stephens Brown in 1964.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg with the Revs. Lindsay A. Thorp and Karin Maxson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family has requested that all memorial donations be made to the Stout Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, 34th and Broad streets, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
