Bio: William F. Rose, 96, Sloan, Iowa, passed away January 20, 1982, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital, at Onawa. He was born March 28, 1885, near German City, Hornick, Iowa to Henry and Louise Stegner Rose. In 1906 his family moved to Kansas and in 1910 they moved to Colorado where they homesteaded. He married Bessie Mumford in Vona, Colorado, on December 31, 1914. She passed away in 1916. In 1918 he moved back to Iowa. On April 12, 1923, he was united in marriage with Anna Weber at Mapleton, Iowa. She preceded him in death in May 1974. He farmed near German City, until he retired and moved to Sloan in 1945 where he took up carpentry work for a few years. He was a member of the Open Bible Church at Holly Springs. Survivors include 1 brother, Elmer Rose, Longmont, Colorado; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Bessie and Anna; and six brothers, Casper, Albert, Earl, Clem, Clarence and Theodore. Services were held on Monday, January 25, 1982 at 10 a.m. at the Wood Funeral Chapel at Sloan with Rev. Roy Struble officiating. Mrs. Wilbur Ray, the organist, accompanied Mrs. Leo Keck, the soloist, who sang the selections ?Rock of Ages? and ?Beyond the Sunset?. Bearers were Merald Weber, Edward Weber, Darrell Ritchie, Cecil Weber, Mervin Weber and Loren Bainbridge. Interment was in the German City Cemetery at Hornick, Iowa, with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home of Sloan, Iowa.
