Herbert Harmon, 81, of Devola, passed away at his home on Thursday morning (March 29, 2012). He was born on April 15, 1930, in Marr, Ohio, a son of Harold Denver and Sarah Thompson Harmon. He was a graduate of Bethel High School with the Class of 1948, and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in the Korean Conflict. He retired after 30 years from Kaiser Aluminum at Ravenswood. W.Va.
On April 17, 1954, he married Geneva Fleeman who survives with four sons and two daughters: Terry (Pam) Harmon, Gregory (Pam) Harmon, Troy (Kim) Harmon and Brian (Sarah) Harmon all of Marietta, Karen (Robert) Lucas of Woodsfield, Sharon (Kevin) Fox of Waterford; nine grandchildren; one step granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and his sister, Virginia Cagot of East Liverpool, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Audrey Cline.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (April 2) at 11 a.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in Putnam Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon after 2 p.m. with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.mslfuneralhome.com.
