Emgard Loebs August 15, 2007 Aberdeen - The funeral service for Emgard Loebs, 93, of Aberdeen, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Randy Battey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Emgard died Saturday, Aug. 11, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab. Visitation is 1-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, with family present from 5-7, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen. Emgard Mund was born on March 2, 1914, to Jacob and Katherine (Reich) Mund at Fredonia, N.D. This is the area where she grew up and attended rural school. She worked on the family farm. At the age of 20, she left home to work for others in their homes. On Sept. 25, 1936, Emgard married Edwin Loebs in Leola, S.D. They made their home on a farm in the area. In 1963, they moved into the city of Leola. Edwin died on March 26, 1992. Emgard moved to Aberdeen in 1999. Emgard was a member of First Baptist Church in Leola and later became a member at Calvary Baptist Church in Aberdeen. Over the years, she taught cradle roll and Sunday school, played piano, and sang in the choir. She was active in Ladies Aid, Mary Martha's Society and was a member of White Cross and was past president for 25 years. She enjoyed babysitting, gardening, and quilting. Grateful for having shared Emgard's life are her two sons, Leslie (Darlene) Loebs of Deerwood, Minn., and Melvin (Helen) Loebs of Aberdeen, S.D.; daughter, Sharlene (Darrel) Chapman of Greeley, Colo.; four grandchildren, Sheila (Art) Bustamante of Tucson, Ariz., John (Melissa) Loebs of Aberdeen, Rodney Chapman of Greeley, Colo., and Roxanne (Pat) Parsoneault, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three great-grandchildren, Emma Loebs, Brandi Chapman, and Megan Parsoneault; her brother, Clifford (Linda) Mund, of Mandan, N.D.; and sister, Esther Schill of Pierre, S.D.
