Olga Schock
ASHLEY - Olga Schock, 76, Ashley, died July 11, 2008, at the Ashley Medical Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Ashley Baptist Church. The Rev. Darwin Stahl will officiate. Burial will be in Ashley City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley, and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Olga Heupel, daughter of Emil J. and Ida (Loebs) Heupel, was born Dec. 30, 1931, at the family home northeast of Eureka in McPherson County, S.D. She attended school at Petersburg School District No. 4. She was baptized by the Rev. Walter Stein April 14, 1946, at Ashley Baptist Church.
She was united in marriage to Harold Schock June 8, 1951, by the Rev. Renz in Ashley Baptist Church. They made their home and farmed 10 miles northeast of Ashley on the original Schock homestead. This is where they raised their six children. Her husband died Sept. 28, 1993. She then moved into Ashley.
Olga enjoyed crocheting for family and friends. She liked cooking for others and people especially enjoyed her doughnuts and kuchen. Any time she could spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always special moments in her life. She was an active member of Ashley Baptist Church and the Sunshine Club.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen (Al) Aman, Jamestown, Dorothy (Bruce) Dockter, Wahpeton, Dawn Schock, Rio Rancho, N.M., and Della (Spencer) Thorsness, Bismarck; one son, Dwight Schock, Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter-in-law, Diane Schock, Michigan; 11 grandchildren, Michelle (John) Boelke, Lewis (Angela) Schock, Matthew (Becky) Dockter, Dean (Cynthia) Aman, Lucas Schock, Tyler Aman, Daniel (Kendra) Dockter, Travis (Cassondra) Schock, Dietrich Schock, Derric Schock and Tanner Thorsness; and nine great-grandchildren, Cassie, Abby and Hunter Boelke, Hattie and Evan Dockter, Otto Dockter, Haliena and Gabrielle Aman and Brandi Schock.
Her parents; husband; one son, James Karl Schock (1-15-1997); one brother, Orwin Heupel; and one sister, Wilma Becker preceded her in death.
Honorary Casketbearers will be her 11 grandchildren, Michelle Boelke, Lewis Schock, Matthew Dockter, Dean Aman, Lucas Schock, Tyler Aman, Daniel Dockter, Travis Schock, Dietrich Schock, Derric Schock and Tanner Thorsness.
Casketbearers will be Lewis Schock, Lucas Schock, Travis Schock, Matthew Dockter Daniel Dockter and Tyler Aman.
The organist will be Julie Spitzer and the soloist is Lana Christmann.
