OBITUARY
Alex Schmidt

FREEMAN, South Dakota (SmallTownPapers) -- Alex Jacob Schmidt was born July 8, 1982 to Donnie and Joann (Stoeb-ner) Schmidt.
Alex loved being outdoors and working with animals. He mowed lawns and delivered the Argus Leader during his younger years. He also enjoyed playing many sports including baseball and football. His participation helped excel his teams to many state appearances including four consecutive state football championships. After high school he worked at Polaris in Vermillion, S.D., but didn't like working indoors, so he came back to Freeman and began working for Schultz Dairy. He also worked for Lawns Unlimited and most recently worked for La-Grand Angus Ranch.
Alex enjoyed spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was throwing darts with the team Cool Cats.
He passed away July 26,2009.
Grateful for sharing his life are his mother, Joann; brothers: Eric, Vermillion, Brent and Brandon, Sioux Falls, S.D., and sister Amanda, Freeman; grandmothers: Gladys Schmidt and Elaine Stoebner, Tripp, S.D.; aunts and uncles: Robert and Bernita Schmidt, Tripp, Charles and Barb Schmidt, Gillette, Wyo.; Jerry and Brenda Stoebner, Tripp, Scott and Judy Schleske, Tripp, Chuck and Bonnie Schulte, Sioux Falls, Jim and Roxie Stoebner, Harrisburg, S.D., Brian Stoebner, Vermillion, Dale and Amy Brown, Tripp, Brian and Dee Mogck, Tripp; many cousins and their families; many friends and his special companion, his dog, Jack.
Alex was preceded in death by his dad and his grandfathers.
The funeral was held Thursday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeffrey W. Pautz officiating, and Mindee Birn-stiehl as organist. Pallbearers were Adam Van Hove, Chad Soulek, James Luke, David Pankratz, Stephen Stuelpnagel and Jared Dick. Interment was at Freeman City Cemetery.
