Birth: Dec. 25, 1917 Brown County Indiana, USA Death: May 4, 2001 Columbus Bartholomew County Indiana, USA Columbus Republic 6 May 2001 Lester Roberts Taylor Road Lester Roberts, 83, of Taylor Road died at 2:13 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2001, at Four Seasons Health Care Center. Mr. Roberts owned and operated a grocery store in Gnaw Bone for many years and attended Gnaw Bone Wesleyan Church. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with the Rev. Albert Hendershot officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana. Mr. Roberts was born in Brown County Dec. 25, 1917, the son of Roy and Bessie Ion Harden Roberts. He married Kathryn Beryl Hendershot. She died Oct. 11, 1997. Survivors include sons, Leon, Keith and Davin Roberts, all of Columbus; a daughter, Jane Mathis of Nashville; several grandchildren and great–grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Roberts of Edinburgh, Ernest Roberts of Columbus, Donald Roberts of Waynetown and Kenneth Roberts of Nashville; and sisters, Mable Lucas and Dorval Chatham, both of Nashville.
