Raymond "Ray" E. Stoebner, 93, of Tripp, South Dakota passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Ava's House by Sanford in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Ray was born on December 11, 1924 to Edward and Martha (Brandt) Stoebner in Tripp, South Dakota. He attended Tripp High School. In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned home to the farm. On February 8, 1948, he was united in marriage to Agnes Hahn at the Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont, South Dakota. Together they farmed north of Delmont until 1986 when they moved to Chamberlain. Ray then worked for Lacota Print Shop for 27 years. Following his retirement, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. He was a member of the Delmont American Legion for 72 years and had the distinction as the last surviving WWII veteran in the group.
Ray is survived and remembered by his wife of over 70 years, Agnes Stoebner of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Karen (Dennis) Andachter and their children: Mike (Anna) Andachter and stepson Matthew Widrig and Tim Andachter; daughter Cheryl (Larry) Smejkal and their children: Shawn (Donna) Smejkal and children: Cameron, Sheridan, Carter, and Dashel Smejkal; daughter Denise Gorrell and her children: Haley VanZee, Cody VanZee, Zachary VanZee, and Coy Gorrell; daughter Misty (Joe) Harvey and their children: Kimberly Tolsma, Ashley Tolsma, Beau Tolsma, Katlin Harvey, Cody Harvey, and Jake Harvey; daughter Lorna (Gerry) Semmler and their children: Paula (Jim) Erck and children Eathen and Emersyn Erck, Justin (Jody) Semmler and children: Breanne and Lauren Semmler, Brandon (Jennifer) Semmler and children: Lillian and Jasper Semmler; son Russell (Janice) Stoebner and their children: Adam (Laura) Stoebner and children: Lydia, Nolan, Audrey, Jason Stoebner and Sarah (Cody) Lutes; brother Walter Stoebner; and sister Francis Konrad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Stoebner.
