Karen D. Ubelhor
September 20, 1943 - October 12, 2010
Serving her Lord was her passion on this earth
Karen D. Ubelhor, 67, Lafayette, died at 7:55 a.m.Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, in the Lutheran Retirement Community following a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 20, 1943, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Joseph and Emily LeMay Klar.
On July 7, 1990, in the Lafayette United Methodist Church, she was married to David Ubelhor, who survives.
A 1961 graduate of Jefferson High School, she worked for 17 years at Hawkins Grad House at Purdue University, West Lafayette.
Karen was a Christian who attended many local churches during her life. She loved Christian music and enjoyed serving her Lord. Karen loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a constant companion to her husband and their dog, Buffy. Karen loved flowers, ceramics and baking cakes. She enjoyed visiting people in nursing homes and other acts of service.
Surviving with her husband are three sons by a previous marriage, Alan (Julie) Leming, of Lafayette, Mickey (Sheila) Leming, of West Lafayette, and Christopher (Billie) Leming, of Danville, IL; two stepchildren, Cheryl Ubelhor (fiancee Mark Kotyuk) and David Ubelhor; her siblings, Jack (Lucy) Klar, of Lebanon, IN, Ruth Ann Ashton, of Hendersonville NC, Mary (Don) Board, of West Lafayette, and Bernadette "Bunny" (Chuck) Head, of Attica; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews including Martha Schilling, of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Glennie and Harold Bryant and Joanne and Elmar Ruben. and Bill Ashton.
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 16, 2010, in Harvest Chapel's Sacred Grounds, 724 Wabash Avenue, Lafayette with Pastor Joe Coggleton and hs wife, Becca, of Grace Church officiating. Friend may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
