Mother Catherine of the Mother of God, O.C.D., one of the founding sisters and for many years the Prioress of the Carmel of St. Joseph Discalced Carmelite Nuns, Des Plaines, died Sunday, January 13, 2002. She was 80 years old, born Rosalie Ubelhor, daughter of August and Rose Lasher Ubelhor on September 4, 1921, in St. Croix, Indiana, she was the fourth of 13 children. Two of these preceded her in death, her brother, Gervase, and her sister, Agnes Sisson. She is survived by Maurice (Gladys) Ubelhor, of St. Croix, Indiana, Olivia (Anthony) Leisner, of Murfreesboro, Tennesse, Dorothy (Ray) Pontones, of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, Rita Kelly, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Marlene (Leory) Oser, of Siberia, Indiana, Sheila Land, of Clermont, Florida, Roman (Joyce) Ubelhor, Jeanette Talbott and Chantelle Ubelhor, of Bristow, Indiana, Sandra (Clifford) Shea, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Diane (Jerry) Taylor, of Evansville, Indiana. She is also survived by 46 nieces and nephews; 94 great-nieces and nephews. Her remains will lie in state at the Monastery of St. Joseph, 1101 N. River Road, from 3 to 5 p.m., on Monday, January 14 and Tuesday, January 15. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of the Trinity in the Des Plaines Monastery on Wednesday, January 16, at 10 a.m. with Bishop Basil Meeking officiating.
