Obituary:
Lawrence A. Ubelhor, 83, of Evansville, passed away Monday, July 02, 2012 at Deaconess Hospital. He was born, March 30, 1929 in Evansville and attended Memorial High School, graduating in 1947. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, where he was the choir director and co-chair of the annual church picnic for many years and a member of the Men?s Club. He received the Brute Award from the Diocese of Evansville for his service to the church. Larry was a masonry contractor, served in the United States Army National Guard for 25 years and operated Ubelhor?s Christmas Tree Farm on #6 School Road from 1957 to 2011. He was a member of the Indiana Christmas Tree Growers Association and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Surviving are five daughters, Carol (Larry) Schlachter of Philpot, KY, Barbara (Louie) Haas of Murfreesboro, TN, Mary (Ernie) Bohleber of St. Philip, Janet (Steve) Fischer of Evansville and Anne (Sam) Crofts of St. Wendel; two sons, Greg Ubelhor of Indianapolis and Dan (Sharol) Ubelhor of Greenwood, IN and a brother, Cyril (Wilma)Ubelhor of Evansville. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, Rachel (Kyle) Donohoo, Melanie Schlachter, Vickie (Blaine) Riley, Sara (Bill) Bailey, Penny Haas, Neal (Sara) Bohleber, Erica (Jeff) Mychaskiw, Kaitlyn Bohleber, Gary (Angie) Fischer, Lorna and Phillip Fischer, Owen and Austin Ubelhor, Cody and Chad Ubelhor, Brittni, Derek and Samantha Crofts and 3 great-grandchildren, Declan Fischer, Connor Donohoo, and Gracie Fischer. Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Estella (Wildeman) Ubelhor in 2009 and by his parents, Robert and Adelaide (Keethers) Ubelhor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at
