dward Joseph Solleder
Sept. 9, 1917 -- June 13, 2003
Longtime Port Angeles resident Edward Joseph Solleder died at age 85.
Born in Shanagolden, Wis., to Joseph and Anna (Zimmerman) Solleder, he grew up in Wisconsin, then moved to Michigan before coming to Port Angeles in 1948.
He married Elva Lenore Bruch in Butternut, Wis., on June 15, 1940.
Mr. Solleder worked as a farmer and heavy equipment operator as well as in construction and logging.
He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Eagles.
Mr. Solleder was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed camping at the beach and hunting.
He is survived by his wife; son Allan "Pat" Solleder of Escondido, Calif.; daughter Sharon Bilow of Phoenix; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters Bertha Einichner, Rose Kempf and Tracy Kemp.
Services: Monday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., visitation at Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles, immediately preceding 1 p.m. graveside service in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, Monroe Road and U.S. Highway 101. The Rev. Reynaldo Yu will officiate.
